An endovascular stent graft is nothing but a small metal scaffold inside your aorta. The stent-graft generally supports the weak areas of your aorta. An endovascular stent graft is a non-invasive surgical procedure used to treat abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Abnormal enlargement of the largest blood vessel of your body is generally referred as an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Abdominal aortic aneurysm is mainly due to the weakened vessels in your body that expand gradually. The bulging is seen due to the pressure of the blood flowing through the vessels in the weaker regions of the aorta.
An aneurysm is generally considered as an increase in the original size of your blood vessels. The vessels are enlarged more than 50 % of their original size. The larger the aneurysm, the greater is the risk of rupture that can lead to complications.
Aorta is the largest blood vessel in the body which originates directly from the heart. It carries all the body’s circulating blood volume at the time it leaves the left ventricle. When the aorta wall is compromised it can lead to aortic catastrophes that can kill the person in a single heartbeat.
